All About Mrs. Chapa
Hello! I am Katie Chapa and I am one of two 2nd grade teachers at St. Anne’s. This is my 1st year at St. Anne’s. I have been in the education field for about 20 years. I grew up in Glenview and went to St. Catherine Laboure from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I know the great connections and what a wonderful community Catholic schools have, I am still in contact with many friends from Kindergarten.
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Education from the University of Dayton. After graduating, I was an assistant teacher in Northbrook. After that I started teaching 3rd grade at St. Joseph’s in Wilmette and then taught 3rd Grade at St. Bartholomew’s in Chicago.
For many years I stayed home with my 4 children, Ellie-15, Maggie- 12, Jack- 9 and Charlie- 4. My husband, Juan and I moved back to the Chicago area so he could receive his Bachelor's in Nursing. Before coming to St. Anne’s I was a substitute teacher in Palatine District 15 in many of their special education classrooms. Last year I taught 3rd grade at St. Colette’s in Rolling Meadows. Unfortunately they closed at the end of last school year.
Most of my spare time is driving my kids to all of their sporting events volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, water polo, and swimming.
